We should play hooky more often

Jeff and I had a lovely day yesterday, and thanks to all our friends that called/texted/commented sweet words to Jeffy. We woke up late-ish and drove to Newport Beach to spend the day. We had baja bowls and about 8000 chips at El Ranchito, walked around Balboa island, and had some drinks at a restaurant on the water overlooking Balboa. Then we went shoe shopping for some new kicks for Jeff and then to the dollar movie theater in Irvine to see Coraline. It was really good. The boxes of whoppers, hot tamales, and gummy worms that we ate? Not so good. Went home and made dinner and watched The Biggest Loser and then a few more episodes of Lost (we got sucked in. It's like freakin' quicksand. Jeff likes the plot, I like Matthew Fox.). We relaxed, talked a lot, walked a lot, and ate a lot. We needed it.

Island kitty! So friendly...

Bougainvilleas bloom like crazy in Southern California. This one would make my dad envious.

The view from the restaurant. Perfection with a Bahama Mama.
