Bows and Arrows

I LOVE the concept and the execution of the flowers for this wedding, done by florists Bows and Arrows. The mint green cages around the flower centerpieces are so rad!! I love most of what they do, but these ones take the cake for me. Totally interesting and unique. I want to make them.

Protective measures

Jeff and I are pretty dang lucky that Elsa hasn't smashed our iPhones or my iPad yet. She's quite the fan of "talking" on our phones, and mimics me tapping buttons on the iPad a lot, but her little baby fingers are not the most careful. My iPad is for work mostly so I think I need to get a protective case for it when it's out at home. I started browsing around and realized there are some pretty awesome options. Such as the Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Apptivity Case ($25.74):

Or the KaysCase KidBox Cover Case ($34.99):

Or the iTikes Canvas ($19.00), which is like a magnadoodle:

I don't know! I'm kind of torn. I like them all. I think Elsa would like the last one the most and has more buttons for her to play with (bonus) plus it's the cheapest, but the KidsBox one is the least ugly. She'll like toting it around by that handle too. Decisions, decisions...

Purdy little fleurs...

Oh Joy has such good taste... this shirt and these heels in this post are just so good.

I'm feeling the floral prints lately. I had  to go shopping at J. Crew this week because I had a $25 reward card that was expiring soon, and found these Liberty of London print toothpick jeans (if you have been paying attention, I also have them in that spearmint color and neon violet (!) and they're pretty much the best pants ever) that were originally $150, marked down to $89.99, with an additional 40% off, effectively making them $28.99 after the rewards card deduction, and WITH FREE SHIPPING! They practically made me buy them. Anyways, I'm excited to get them and wear the floral love.

Thanks for visiting Pops!

My dad came down for the long weekend for a little Elsa-time, and our backyard looks SO much better! I was starting to despair, and even applied to be on a backyard transformation show on HGTV, but a good afternoon of yard work really improved my outlook. Everything got weeded, the lawn got mowed, the basil sticks got pulled out, the rust on the glider is gone, the bougainvillea was strung up and stabilized, and white clover seeds were planted in the cracks of the brick patio and around the orange tree. It's back to being a pleasant place to hang out. Next weekend I'll get my act together maybe and replant my vegetable garden. My sister-in-law who works at a nursery is visiting that weekend so maybe I'll exploit her and make her help me.

I didn't get many photos of my dad, but that's probably because he wasn't wearing mint green floral short overalls, like Elsa was. My photographic attention was elsewhere.

Seriously, how cute are these?? Sue's obsession with Osh Kosh rivals my obsession with J Crew, and thank god it does, because I kind of want Elsa in these overalls forever.

Grampa looks super excited to see her here. Not like she helped much though.

Her fashion game was ON this weekend! This little white tank has sweet little polka dots and pleating down the front, and got paired with her Levi's jeggings, gingham Toms and a Liberty of London-esque print sun hat.

Grampa after several hours of yard work, taking a rest on the baby Adirondacks (while I cringed in the background hoping he wasn't go to break it).

And Shalom came to visit! Jude too but all the pictures I got of the two crazies dancing and playing were blurry. Bah!

And if you're not following us on our YouTube channel, we just posted a few new videos of our spazz, here, here, and here.

Stop talking. Said our cats NEVER.

I love this print by our friend Martha Rich! It is SO Lily Mae, SO NOT Tyr and Thor. They gaze adoringly at anyone talking to them.

Martha also did our Stiff Peaks piece that's in our hallway alcove. It's painted over a meringue recipe. She cracks me up.

Pigtail!!

We have finally graduated to the head flair! Kind of. This is just a hair tie making a ponytail but it's a slippery slope to barrettes, headbands, and fascinators. She won't really let me do her hair while she's standing still, unless she's watching Yo Gabba Gabba, because she turns her head from side to side to figure out what I'm doing. And it takes some effort to "brush" the baby dreadlocks back into a pigtail so I've been doing it while running behind her as she tears though the house. She looks cute and I get a workout! She's pretty good about leaving it alone so it stays for an hour or two before needing a readjustment.

Happy Valentine's Day Liv!

To my wife whom I adore... I love you more than anything in this world and that's why I'm buying you your favorite things from Purl Soho for Valentine's Day. Your loving husband, Jeff.

(Jeff didn't actually write that. This may be a "not-so-subtle hint gift idea complete with text for the card" blog post.)

Alphabet buttons from Dill Buttons, in an "E" and an "M" for an Elsa project.

Chambray cotton ribbon in black, red, and aqua (one yard each).

Solid piping ribbon in light blue (two yards).

Small pom-pom trim in black (two yards).

Fishtail braided cotton linen cord in cream (two yards).

Alternatively, a gift card from Purl Soho also would be lovely. XOXOXO Hugs and keeses!
