Broken hearts...

Last Monday, Jeff's dad, Scott, died in an accident while on a fishing trip on the Sacramento River. It's been a devastating week but the huge amount of love and support that has been shown to our family has been so uplifting and such a comfort. Jeff and I would like to thank everyone here for their thoughts and prayers that have helped us all in this difficult time. He was so loved and will be immensely missed.

You know you want the kitsch...

If you're looking for a lush oasis of relaxation and splendor in the heart of California's Silicon Valley to stay at when you're visiting Los Altos for our wedding, stay at Dinah's Garden Hotel! Thanks to Mandy for finding this little gem! Jeff and I will be staying at the Courtyard Plaza Cabana Resort hotel, and some of the bridal party will be staying at Dinah's. They're all close to each other and about 5 minutes from the History Museum so very convenient! Check out their website for reservation information:

Engagement photos!

A few weeks ago, our photographer Scott Groller met up with us in Venice Beach to take our engagement pictures, and they're up! Of course I'm choosing my favorites to show you here on the blog... we had a blast doing it although it was freezing and not the best day. You can view the whole shebang here: Enjoy!

Cheap airfare to San Jose!

Hi everyone!

JetBlue just created a new flight path between Long Beach and San Jose and they're kicking off the celebration with low fares. Only $39 each way! Cheap! And with lots of leg room! It starts on May 21st so it's perfect if you'll be flying up to the Bay Area for our wedding. The San Jose airport is the most convenient for Los Altos (San Francisco is okay, not the best) so book away! www.jetblue.com

The polls are closing in a month, go vote!

Unlike the Clinton and Obama democratic presidential race, this caucus is not a close one for the wedding petting zoo nominee. I'm officially closing the polls in a month. So if you haven't voted yet, get on it!

Just remember,
just like tigers, leopards are big cats too. They eat people.

Hawaii and Chi Chis

In the midst of all these gray skies and rainstorms, Jeff and I have been dreaming of Hawaii. Departing June 15th and staying for 10 glorious days, we will be honeymooning in Maui on the beautiful sands of Ka'anapali Beach and then off to Kalapaki Beach in Kauai to finish it off. Our parents were so wonderful to arrange the trip for us as our wedding gift, and we couldn't be more thrilled. It will be my first time to Hawaii so we're doing everything. Or nothing. I can't decide which sounds better. :) Yay!

Best... Mom... EVER!!

So guess who found me a treasure trove of perfect birch logs!? My mom of course. She stalked the store display designers at Anthropologie as they were dismantling their winter display and tricked them into giving her 14 logs! Well, maybe not tricked, probably she just asked for them and they said sure. But either way, SCORE!! My birch log wedding decoration plans are coming to fruition... MUA-HA-HA!

Thanks Mom!

Mr. and Mrs. Gina and Chris Peters

Our friends Gina and Chris got married in Monterey this past October and the pictures just got uploaded. We had a blast and it was a gorgeous wedding. I wish I was brave enough to get married on a beach like they did, except I don't like nature in my crannies.

Note to self: heat lamps are a great idea.

Blog out!

Update! Check out www.mandyandseth.blogspot.com for all the juicy deets on their wedding. But feel free to ask me about their wedding too. Not to brag or anything, but I'm a bridesmaid so I know ALL about it.

Does anyone have any skinny birch trees in their yard? Mind if I hack one down? I need a couple logs of skinny gray birch wood, branches are okay too. I.... have....a....plan.

Comments are encouraged!

Okay kids, we've decided to open the boards for music requests. Please leave us a comment with a song choice and we'll add it to the playlist (if we like it, no promises). If you recommend anything along the lines of "Shout", "YMCA", or "Brown-Eyed Girl", your comment will be deleted. Just a stern warning.

Thanks for your suggestions!!

Didja get them!?

Our save-the-dates went out on Saturday, yay! They were a lot of fun to make and we hope they convey a little hint of the wedding style we're going for. Of course, a formal invitation will follow, these were just meant to be a heads-up to our guests so we could get into your calendars early before all you little social butterflies start making summer plans.

Ah yes, and if you don't receive one in the coming week, it's because we don't have your address, so freakin' call us back or answer our myspace messages asking for it!

hug hug, keese keese. xoxo,

coolest... photographer... EVER!

Jeff and I are so darn excited that we were able to book our friend Scott Groller (brother to Matt Groller- such a creatively talented family it's unfair) to photograph our wedding! His style is "non-traditional and documentary in nature" which is exactly what we would hope for our wedding album. Score!

A very big THANK YOU shout out goes to Jeff's parents who were so generous to give us the gift of a photographer for our wedding. We can't wait to see the pictures he will take. Engagement photos will be posted as soon as we have them!

Here's Scott's website if you'd like to check out his awesome work:

Our color inspiration...

It all started with Jeff's suit. He intially wanted a brown one, so we went off of that. Chocolate browns, tangerine orange, bright pink, and pops of turquoise was to be our color scheme. Delightful. But then we saw It. The suit of all suits. You'll have to see it in person to truly appreciate what Original Penguin does for men's suits but in short, it's a gray suit. So of course a new color scheme was needed. With the help of my designer bridal party, we came up with a gorgeous one that I think is the cat's pajamas. Here's a little glimse:

Next up, save-the-dates! Coming to a mailbox near you... soon I hope.

This is important, Listen now!

If you look at the polls for our wedding petting zoo extravaganza, "the yeti" a valiant nominee is trailing behind the leopard by 4%. If you feel the need to vote, you have the power to knock the leopard out of first place. If you want to see a leopard go to the zoo or go reeeeeeeeeeeeead some booooooooooooks
